Kenya's top umpires arrive in Malawi for WCL

While Kenya's national team jet out on Monday for Zimbabwe, out four top umpires are already arriving in Malawi to help officiate at the Africal WCL Div 3 tournament.

The four, Subhash Modi, David Odhiambo, Rockie D'Mello and Kutub Gulamabbas flew out on Friday and will team up with two Malawi umpires - Rafik Valimohamed and Amin Tarmohamed.

Six African teams – Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Malawi, Lesotho, Gambia and Morocco will fight it out for the top honours during the five day tournament in Blantyre from 3rd to 7th October 2009. All the teams and officials are expected to have arrived in Blantyre by 2nd October and will depart by 8th October 2009.

Graham McMillan, Senior Development Co-coordinator, ICC Development, Africa, will be the Tournament Match Referee.

It is great to see the Kenyan umpires being chosen to represent both Kenya and the ICC at this event. Through strengthening the neighbouring countries so too will Kenyan cricket ultimately benefit as there are stronger teams for our development sides to play. We wish our umpires well and are sure they will uphold Kenyan honour.
