Banda make it Three at Peponi

Banda School successfully defended the Peponi School Ten-10 Cricket Tournament after beating Kenton College in a one sided final. Banda who had won the previous two editions of the tournament involving four schools defeated Kenton by 58 runs after having scored 97 runs for the loss of three wickets.

Paul Malesu was the highest scorer for Banda with 32 runs (retired) from 23 balls. His knock included four boundaries. He put on an opening stand of 49 runs with Gordon Everade who scored 29 runs. Everade hit five boundaries from 18 balls before he was caught and bowled by Aman Chotai.

Davide Bernardi added unbeaten 28 to give his team a resounding total. Theo Winchester scored five not out as Luke Syrett and Joe Mwangi lost their wickets on one and naught respectively.
Chotai conceded 26 runs in his three overs while Oliver Akiwumi conceded nine in two overs and picked one wicket - of Mwangi.

Everade added his sterling form with the bat with two wickets for eight runs. He clean bowled Aman Maru Shah and Hamish Hughes for naught and two respectively in the first over with scores on 3. He conceded six runs in his second over before bowling a maiden in his third.
Syrett had Neejay Raikundalia stumped for six for the third wicket. Akiwumi added eight runs but Qaher Madhani was the top scorer with unbeaten 10. Malesu bowled Chotai for one to finish with 1 for six in two overs.

Pembroke won the bronze after defeating Peponi House by 10 runs. Gabriel Jones scored 31 (retired) to lead to his school to a total of 86 runs. Cameron Coulson added eight in the total.
In reply Kevan Dhodia 22 runs was not enough to save his team from falling against a tight bowling from Gilgil school.

Banda had defeated Pembroke by 15 runs in the first semi final. Banda scored 86 before restricting their opponents for 71 runs. Everade and Malesu yet again impressed with the bad scoring 30 runs each. Everade hit six boundaries while Malesu managed four. Lawrence Willsher was unbeaten on 25 that included the only six of the tournament and four boundaries.
Pembroke bowling and fielding was impressive as no extras were conceded.
Max Sinclair’s 20 (run out) failed to prevent his school from defeat as Banda bowlers proved to be superior . Brendon Jones was the other batter in the side to reach the double figure with 15 before he was bowled by Everade.

Peponi House scored 69 runs for the loss of six wickets in the second semi finals a target that was reached by Kenyon with five wickets to spare. Dillan Malde picked two wickets for six runs for Kenton. Raikundalia and Hughes both scored 23 runs as Peponi failed to contain the Kenton batsmen.
Kush Mediarratta was the outstanding bowler for Peponi with two wickets for 14. He bowled Raikundalia and Matthew Bromman.

The tournament was graced by national team captain Maurice Ouma who was on hand to present prizes to the winners.
